Course Overview
Focuses on Big Data management frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark. Also covers relational and non-relational database technologies, including document (“NoSQL”) databases as well as emerging cloud data management solutions.
Grading
Class Participation/Quizzes: 20%
lecture quizzes: 15%, worst 2 quizzes will be dropped.
lab quizzes: 5%, can miss up to 4 labs for full score
Assignments: 20%
Midterm: 30%
Final: 30%
The midterms will be open book exams. They will be 80 minutes in length, and will include a combination of quantitative and essay-type questions.
For assignments, there is 20% per-day penalty for late submission.
